Collaborations 1993-2010 > Folk ADD-Mixed Media Installation Performance 2005

I was asked to create a secret history of Bridgeport, IL from the 60's with a group of artists. For a large international art and music happening Select Media run by Lumpen Magazine and it's fellows. We called ourselves Folk ADD and I created mixed media objects out of recycled materials and my collaborator created ephemera and we but everything together to create a 60's happening. I found that the industrious manual labor led to needing to take naps. So I also built a bed, blanket and pillow out of the technique of wrapping recycled materials repetively in which to take active naps in while I worked. I knitted a blanket out of old stretchers strips and a pillow out of wrapping yarn around and around. I also made gods eyes out of drumpsticks and telephone cables. I knitted rubber bands and yarn to create a huge web. I transformed a large roll of industrial plastic into a stream of plastic webbing to string through out the space. For the performances I read my poetry wore a dress I add drawn on with carbon, and also created an indian headdress out of recycled materials such ass old movie tickets, audio tape, and rubber gloves and the group in Indian chants I had created while my collaborator played the piano keys.
